After a wild first night of the NFL draft that saw a record number of offensive players chosen teams emphasized defense Friday night during the second and third rounds. Among the franchises in the spotlight: the Washington Commanders, who took defensive tackle Jer’zhan Newton at No. 36, cornerback Mike Sainristil at No. 50, tight end Ben Sinnott at No. 53, guard Brandon Coleman at No. 67 and wide receiver Luke McCaffrey at No. 100.
