Former president Donald Trump is on trial in New York City on charges that he concealed a $130,000 hush money payment to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels to protect his 2016 campaign.
He faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with the payment to Daniels, who said they had sex in 2006. Prosecutors say Trump doctored the records with the intent to violate state election law and keep voters in the dark about the alleged tryst. Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for 2024, has pleaded not guilty and denies having sexual relations with Daniels.
